CANYON – Coyote In Waves [Album]

Maxims, like Swiss Army knives are fun little things that are legitimately useful sometimes but are often simply fiddled with and used in contexts that they weren’t originally intended for. One such maxim, “less is more,” is only true until it isn’t. And in the situation of CANYON’s newest project, Coyote In Waves, more is CANYON. Like, the last project we featured from the Chicago producer, Vol. 1, there are plenty of things going on in each song. Subtle percussion here, ‘is that a sample or a synthesizer that sounds like a female ghost?’ there, and so on. Coyote In Waves has a sound that’s rooted in hip hop, but like a lot of music nowadays there are too many genre’s that could be pointed to as influencing the tracks here. Similar to how there are too many potential ingredients in hot dogs to pinpoint from what animal or part of an animal a particular bite contains. And yet you still eat them. And you should listen to this.
