Bone Thugs-N-Harmony – “Budsmokers Only” (Schwarz Remix)

Bone Thugs-N-Harmony are known for twisting lines together, rapping fast and then stretching words out slowly in an unpredictable and compelling manner, even if many seem to have no clue as to what’s being said. And their more memorable songs came paired with beats that carried on with the measured pace of the Grim Reaper in their “Crossroads” video. And that makes Schwarz’s remix of “Budsmokers Only” refreshing. Schwarz, the producer who provided the backdrop for the Juiceboxxx and Issue song we posted up a while back, makes the track that saw its best days in 1995 sound more Baltimore club than flannel button-up. That Bmore club style also gets added to Big Sean‘s “Marvin Gaye & Chardonnay”, with a repeated “Hol’ up” comprising the majority of the lyrical content. And if that’s too much hip-hop, I know you’ve always wondered what the Beach Boys’ “Wouldn’t It Be Nice” would sound like as a track for the dance-floor.
