Let me tell you a story about this MC named Blu. He dropped this incredible album back in 2007 with a producer by the name of Exile called Below The Heavens. It received fabulous reviews and instantly launched Blu’s career above and beyond anything we had seen in the indie hip-hop scene for a long time. Four years later, Blu has released a slew of notable, yet far from top-notch works, and even signed a deal with Sire Records. Let’s face it, you all already know the story, and you are all sick of these abstract lo-fi tracks that Blu has been putting out. Just give us NoYork! already! Well, folks, it looks like it is finally coming around. Yup, because “My Sunshine”, which features Nia Andrews on vocals and Shafiq Husayn on production, will serve as the first single off of Blu’s major label (we still hope) debut. To accompany the single we have stunning visuals directed by Aaronisnotcool, a self-depreciating filmmaker that is now all over my radar. No word on when exactly Warner will unleash NoYork!, but things are certainly looking up.
Hit the skip to check out the video for “My Sunshine”.

Piece Talks and Johnson&Jonson will always be funner, more personality driven AND better albums than BTH IMO, which was way too didactic and traditionalist.
This song is the shit though
I have no doubt he’s heard it, as have others like Sweeney Kovar and the heads @ New World Color. All accounts have been the same, its on some electro spaced out shit. As for the release, Blu has even been starting to “express” some of his frustrations on his tumblr. It was just a bad move to sign to a major in these days and times and make an LP like the one heads have been describing NoYork to be. Hope we all get to hear it soon
Love this beat by Shafiq Husayn. Finally a new Blu joint I’m not booing.
Oh yeah, it is possible. But just because you heard it doesn’t mean you gotta go around acting like you are the only dude that heard it. I think it is a lot more abstract and electronic driven (like FlyLo type stuff), but not completely sure what the final album is going to sound like. It’s been done for like a year now haha. I think the deal now is that Warner is taking a long time to figure out what to do with it.
oooooooooooooooooooo BABY
dope song with an even better video
on 2dbz, Shake commented on the vid, “A track that ranks among my favorites on the album, and ironically sounds completely different than 95% of the rest.” do you think he actually heard the album, or is it a bunch of bull.
the song is really good, but i feel like I like Seasons much better. I just hope that the album blu showcases some more of his lyrical side because the Jesus LP was was lacking that.
