Blu – “Everything’sOK” f. Jack Davey p. Flying Lotus

I can only imagine how awesome this song is, as I sit in the library without my prized headphones. Last night, Blu unleashed a song on his twitter, and it features not only vocals from Jack Davey (j*DaVeY), but some apparently ferocious production from Flying Lotus. While the actual link is dead on his twitter, I was able to grab a link thanks to Kenny Fresh. Word has it that “Everything’sOK” will be on the highly anticipated NoYork! album which also serves as Blu’s major label debut. With a production list that features the likes of Samiyam, Exile, Madlib, Shafiq Husayn, Daedelus, Knxwledge and more, there is no doubt that this piece of music, when it finally drops, is going to blow heads out of the water.

UPDATE: Okay, so I finally got around to listening to this song, and I have to agree with you guys in the comments section, not really feeling this one. I can sort of understand the direction, maybe trying to be a little more accessible with a major label release, but I think this fell completely short. Let us know how you feel in the comments section!

Stream the track or download it after the skip.

  1. Hey I’ve been seeing dis guy Blu pop, on a couple of blog sites and songs that are on rotation on my I-pod, was wondering if anyone could send me a link where i can find his earlier and his recent work I’d appreciate it

This is beyond garbage – it’s toxic and will be flagged for burial in a rural area next to poor people

  3. actually, though, i liked bng… just don’t know if i could listen to an entire album of that.

  4. Both Blu and FlyLo have done better work… much better. I like them both apart, but their styles don’t really mesh.

This is sounds like Black Eyed Pleaseturnthisf**kingsongoff.

  5. “Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo !!!!!!!”

BNG wasn’t much better either… Like John said Blu’s delivery just doesn’t fit FlyLo’s glithier production – chemistry always wins over a big name (whatever the project)

I’m not really feeling this beat either, sadly.

    reminds me of this:

But I’m still looking forward to Blu over FlyLo beats. Especially after this dropped:

Blu said in an interview that this is the album that he wanted to create a different sound — I think the point was to get away from that jazzed up style (which is my favorite, so I understand the comments). I like it when artists decide to take it somewhere else, plus there are so many talented DJ’s that are producing sounds that are unreal, so naturally emcees need to try something with them. He has an album w/ Exile that is the follow-up to Below the Heavens that drops after this (already recorded) – so that old Blue sound WILL be back.

  9. Not sure about this guy. Maybe its not really him but rather the beat. I am overwhelmed by the music in the background and his voice is not strong enough to match/overpower it. I’d like to hear another track before I write him off.

  10. This is awesome to me. I need this album. Is there a release date yet?

  11. Yea, I was kind of bummed when I heard flylo was going to be doing some of the production on NoYork. I know some people see beauty in it but I just can’t vibe him. Especially for Blu’s casual style.

  12. This beat doesn’t suit Blu at all, it kind of sounds like a reject from Pattern+Grid World.

  13. Yea FlyLo has to come with a better beat for Blu. Something jazzy..

  14. The beat does nothing for me.

    Yeah the beat kinda sucks

  16. This doesn’t settle too well with me right now.
Hoping it’ll grow on me after a few more listens.
