What’s the first thing that comes to mind when someone asks you about Black Milk? That’s right, his drums. The Detroit native laces his productions with some of the best drum sounds heard in, well, ever, which has helped place him on another level. Of course, as we heard on Album of the Year, his talents as a producer — band leader, really — go beyond percussion. But it’s difficult to not listen to, say, “Give The Drummer Sum” and not become instantly hypnotized by that beat. Maybe that’s why I have watched this live session of Black Milk and his band so many times. Daru Jones: You’re a monster.
