Black Milk – “Don Cornelius”

Today just keeps rolling out the hits. Just as I thought things were going to slow down, I got hit up with a new track from Black Milk called “Don Cornelius”. Since we haven’t posted about Black in a while, I thought I would throw this track up. Although it won’t be making the upcoming Album Of The Year, it still bangs. It almost sounds like it came straight from his debut LP, Popular Demand. By the way, can I say something about Black Milk’s ability to name things? Let’s start with the name Black Milk itself. Awful! But this album, Album Of The Year. I get the confidence and arrogance and all, and it might just end of being the album of the year, but that is a serious lack of creativity right there. Anyway, be sure to cop Album Of The Year on July 27 via Fat Beats.

  1. Does anybody know what is the sample of Closed Chapter – Black Milk ft. Mr. Porter.. it’s driving me crazy.
    Thx

  2. Track is dope. High hopes for the new album as both Popular Demand and Tronic were (in my opinion) more than decent records!

  3. Yeah, Gabe, it’s “Love Comes and Goes” by Lee Fields & the Expressions.

  4. So good.
Anybody know what the sample is? I know I’ve heard it but I can’t place it and it’s driving me crazy.

  5. Are you sure he’s named after that Massive Attack track? I thought he said that wasn’t the case. Check it — http://www.spinner.com/2010/03/07/sxsw-2010-black-milk/

He’s named after a Massive Attack song, not that that info makes the name sound less odd. Every time I recommend him to somebody, they laugh. And “Album of the Year” is just a tragic title.

@thedopeness never heard that.. still a shitty name haha

  8. i read somewhere that it’s not called album of the year as a boast but because it’s supposed to represent the last year in his life and different events and seasons he went through. still don’t know if it’s a great title, but i guess that’s the explanation.
