Big K.R.I.T. – “Happy Birthday Hip-Hop” F. Yelawolf

Maybe this is a sign that Country Cousins: Trunk Muzik Wuz Here, the collaborative mixtape between southern heavy hitters Big K.R.I.T. and Yelawolf, is resurfacing. When I chopped it up with Yelawolf last October, he said it was recorded and on its way. Still yet to hit the blogs, we do get a track from the first time the two met. “Happy Birthday Hip-Hop” chronicles a rebirth of hip-hop in the South, attempting to revive the sounds of UGK and Mystikal with “808 bass and hater face scrunchin”. This is the first release from K.R.I.T.’s upcoming Last King 2: God’s Machine mixtape presented by DJ Wally Sparks (Big K.R.I.T.’s official DJ) and DJ Breakem Off. The tape is due Aug. 18 and serves as a precursor for his retail debut, Live From The Underground, which hits stores on the jam-packed Sept. 27.

I can’t be the only one hoping these two decide the buzz is worth dropping Country Cousins.
