Following a successful 2012 during which he dropped his great No1 2 Look Up 2 album and spit a slew of killer guest features, New York rapper-producer Big Baby Gandhi has decided to call it quits. He took to his Tumblr, which he said will be deleted soon, to break the news with an “official retirement post.” You can read that below. In case you are unfamiliar with BBG, you can peep some videos from the young talent underneath his announcement.

He wasn’t anything special anyway, another “i’m not even trying” dude (like your favorite Das Racist crew). It’s good for a while but it goes nowhere and it’s really boring in the long term. I kinda see him like the indian version of Heems or something like this….so yeah, good thing he’s not making more music and good luck to him.
You saw him tweet that he’ll be releasing anything he’s got left on his harddrive (including an unfinished album), right?
Unfortunately “real life” doesn’t support someone who works a full-time professional career as a pharmacist and who raps about drugs on the side. Understandable, but also kind of a shame really. BBG was a gifted rapper, but at least he’s being mature about his decision.
If you’ve read old interviews of his, he mentions coming from an extremely poor background, so in order for him to help support his mom and dad, focusing on getting a gig as a pharmacist is the smarter option, rather than trying for a career as a rapper. Especially an Indian rapper. We aren’t really “there” yet.
end of rappers who doesn’t care era
this kinda makes sense. I’ll hit the hash pipe an extra time for dude right now. best of luck in whichever direction life takes him.
Naaah, how can he just quit like that after getting money from these fans? Lool
i really liked this dude. he was dope. but i guess it is not worth pursuing a career in rapping if you feel it is not viable. it is a tough lifestyle
