BET Hip Hop Awards Announce 2013 Nominees

kendrick-lamar-chillinBET has never been that credible of a source in my eyes, but they remain one of the driving forces in hip-hop media. Today they have announced the 2013 Hip Hop Awards nominees, which include a number of notable picks. While we still aren’t sure what the different between Lyricist and MVP of the Year is, it looks like Drake, Jay Z and Kendrick Lamar are among the top picks for both categories. Oh, and that is a big look for Chance the Rapper, who gets a nod for Best Mixtape.

We’d also like to note that Kanye West has been completely snubbed by BET this year, without a single nomination in the announced categories. Unfortunately, BET does appreciate Wale and J. Cole, though.

Let us know what you think about the nominees in the comments section below. I’m certain you all will have something to say about this…

Mac Miller’s album was the best release of June 18. Funny how 3 artists on RocNation’s roster were nominated for best album.

Wow, this is some weak a$$ sh!t. How you gonna leave Macklemore and Ryan Lewis out? Then again, what did I or anyone else expect from BET?

I’m surprised to see Logic’s absence from this list. His latest ran laps lyrically around the majority of the projects above, and on several occasions, he’s expressed his support for the folks over at BET, so it’s kind of a shame to see them neglect his stuff.

How the hell are they not gonna nominate Ryan Lewis for best producer?!

You shouldn’t even be surprised he’s not there. BET is trash, you never hear rappers rap about “BET Awards”, they want Grammys.

Gotta be skeptical of any source allowing for a Trinidad Jame$ tape to emerge as a contender for anything other than “throwaway effort of the year”
