Aaaand we’re back! We took last week off because I was on vacation and, well, compiling this feature every week is one of my main jobs around here. But enough about me, let’s get to the week’s biggest news story: Danny Brown’s Old finally has a release date (Sept. 30). Equally awesome was seeing El-P take part in Rhythm Roulette wherein he made a beat out of three records he bought while blindfolded. We also found out what to expect from Flying Lotus’ Grand Theft Auto V radio station while J Dilla’s uncle announced he’s opening a doughnut shop in its nephew’s honor. Aw.
In other news, Knxwledge announced a new EP and album … and dropped a new project in a single day, MellowHype and Domo Genesis revealed the details for their MellowHigh project, and the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, um, happened. Oh, and there’s a pretty killer lineup for this fall’s Smokers Club tour. Be there. We also put together our monthly 5 Hip-Hop Acts You Need to Know feature and absolutely loved YC The Cynic’s new album, GNK.
Now for the finest single drops:
- Ta-ku – “We Were In Love”
- Shad – “Fam Jam (Fe Sum Immigrins)”
- Danny Brown – “ODB”
- Fat Joe – “Your Honor” F. Action Bronson P. DJ Premier
- Sol – “Tomorrow”
- Yancey Boys – “Quicksand” F. Common & Dezi Paige
- 14KT – “Paid” F. Blu
- Ju’ Malone – “Let Me Go”
- Yuna – “Falling”
- Portugal. The Man – “Evil Friends” F. Danny Brown (Jake One Remix)

that’s like a month old
I wouldn’t quite call this song new anymore but if anyone wants to watch a dope video that dropped recently, check out Earl Sweatshirt in his video for “Hive”. http://smarturl.it/EarlHive
Couldn’t disagree more, Lords of Flatbush sucked dick. it’s like they got a bunch of throw away beats and took one verse and changed it a little for each song. lol
