House Shoes Presents DREAMS: B.I.G. Reimagined [Mixtape]

house-shoes-dreamsEarlier this month, we commemorated the 16th death anniversary of the Notorious B.I.G. Recognizing that was House Shoes, who enlisted some of his like-minded producer friends to craft the DREAMS: B.I.G. Reimagined mixtape. As you can see on the artwork, there are 10 classic Biggie tracks flipped on here from the likes of Knxwledge, 14KT, and House Shoes.

You can download the tape here.

Keyboard Kid | Based In The Rain  [Album]

keyboard-kid-based-in-the-rain-3The first Based In The Rain was actually the project that got me into Keyboard Kid’s music, so I partially apologize for the bout of nostalgia-induced glee on my part. But there’s something comforting about the Seattle producer’s approach to crafting instrumentals. Maybe it’s how he flips samples from video games, M83, and the like. Or maybe I just love instrumental sh*t. Whatever it is, BITR3 deserves a spot on your harddrive.

You can download BITR3 on Bandcamp.

Teddy Roxpin & Ricky Bakken | The Groove Theory Tape  [Mixtape]

teddy-roxpin-ricky-bakkenThe Groove Theory Tape represents the bicoastal connection of Boston producer Teddy Roxpin and L.A. bassist Ricky Bakken. While Roxpin made a name for himself working with the likes of Mac Miller and Apathy, he’s showcasing here that he’s not just some cat who makes beats. He’s got a thing for jazz and funk, too, which is on full display throughout The Groove Theory Tape.

You can download the tape at Dat Piff.

Redivider | Lost In The Outtakes  [Beat Tape]

lost-in-the-outtakesLost In The Outtakes is exactly what its title implies: A collection of tracks that didn’t quite make the cut for Bay Area producer Redivider‘s new project, Lost In The. While that might be true, that doesn’t mean that these songs should have sat around on a digital editing room floor. Redivider harnesses a cohesive sound filled with fuzzy synths and thick bass, which intertwine amid low-key melodies and plenty of crunch. Beat heads, enjoy.

You can download the tape here.

Jamie xx & John Talabot’s B2B Mix for NTS

john-talabot-foilLook, you pretty much know that DJ mix/set is going to be awesome when it starts with Marvin Gaye. So when I heard the legendary singer’s “Got To Give It Up” open John Talabot and Jamie xx‘s B2B set for NTS radio, sh*t most definitely got real. It only gets funkier from there on out and did I mention that it goes on for more than three hours? Yeah, you need this in your life.

You can download the full set here.
