If you’re into XXL‘s annual list of Freshman, then you were probably loving life this past week as the magazine revealed its picks for 2013. They also caught up with one of ’em, ScHoolboy Q, who hinted at the formation of a super-group with Danny Brown, A$AP Rocky, and Ab-Soul. Uh, yes please. Outside of all that, Rick Ross stirred up more controversy when he said his rape-y lyrics on Rocko’s “U.O.E.N.O.” are all a “misunderstanding.” This, of course, came only a few hours after we learned that a Michigan radio station pulled Rozay and Lil Wayne from its rotation. Speaking of Michigan, Binary Star is back, y’all.
Some other big news was the leaking of the 2013 Lollapalooza lineup and the announcement that Kanye West’s new album is NOT named I Am God. Additionally, we put together some new features, including a gallery of awesome Danny Brown illustrations and a list of albums that will probably never come out. We also learned the cause of Austin Peralta’s tragic death, which shocked portions of the music world last November. RIP Austin.
