With the tributes already pouring out, we now receive word from straight from the Beastie Boys that we can expect more music from them, MCA included. In fact, the hip-hop legends had recorded music with the late great back in late 2011, despite him being diagnosed with cancer back in 2009. It appears that Yauch insisted on recording in the studio, even being able to lend some of his vocals to the mix.
“Adam instigated it. It could only come from him, in terms of where he was at with his cancer treatment. He wasn’t sure he was able to do vocals but after a bit we ended up doing them. It was a way for him to say, ‘Yeah, I’m doing it’.” – Mike D
We haven’t received word as to where those recordings will end up just yet, but it is reassuring to know that is creative output hasn’t quite come to a close. The band also announced that they plan on making more music in the future, although they are not sure if it will be under the same Beastie Boys moniker. [via]
