Aurelio – “Tio Sam”

While I am not that well-versed in the area, I like to spotlight stellar foreign artists every chance that I get. Aurelio Martinez is a perfect example, a Honduras-born singer that was a real breath of fresh air last night as I scoured the web. “Tio Sam” is packed with infectious rhythms and guitar work, which I am anxious to hear more of from Aurelio’s upcoming release on Sub Pop’s Next Ambiance imprint. Laru Beya is the name of the album, and it is inspired by the loss of a friend, mentor and fellow musician, Andy Palacio, who died of “stroke-life siezures” in 2008. Be sure to check the single and support Aurelio on January 18 when his inspiration album drops to the masses.
