Lauryn Hill
To say the least, Lauryn Hill’s career has been pretty toxic. Affairs with Wyclef Jean, reports of poor concert experiences from fans, tax evasion and more, there is no telling where Ms. Hill will end up next. With that said, she remains one of the greatest female hip-hop artists of all time, and we are going to keep rooting for her until the very end. We think Questlove has the savvy to resurrect her career once and for all. Plus, the thought Black Thought trading bars with Ms. Hill sits pretty well with us. And it wouldn’t be much of an unnatural extension, either, as both of these artists have been known to float within the same circles over the years.
Lenny Kravitz
Whether you like him or not, Lenny Kravitz’ talent is undeniable. And if you’ve seen the Roots play live before, then you know they are always good for a powerful rock-n-roll cover at just about every set. So why not get these two powerhouses in the studio to knock out some good old revolutionary funk rock. And with two often times politically outspoken artists in Questlove and Lenny, we think that subject matter would flow easily if the two were to collaborate. Plus, we love the thought of these two working together to produce something with a real retro aesthetic.
