Armchair A&R: Artists We Wish J Dilla Could’ve Collaborated With

J Dilla hat Armchair A&R: Artists We Wish J Dilla Couldve Collaborated WithAs we continue to celebrate the life of James Dewitt Yancey, we decided it was the time to include the late multi-talented in our Armchair A&R series. We came up with a list of nine potential collaborators who we think could have made magical music with J Dilla had he not tragically passed away in February 2006. On the list you will find some more obvious picks, though we also threw in some slightly oddball selections. One of them was even supposed to happen on The Rebirth of Detroit, but the fellow Detroit native decided to not get involved.

With that, we present to you nine artists we wish could have collaborated with J Dilla. And, of course, feel free to let us know some artists you wish could have jumped in the studio with the legend.

Someone put together a whole JD and Nas mashup album. It’s available and definitely listenable.
The 9th Wonder and Nas mashup album is better though.

Dilla and Prince both have Common’s Electric Circus as a musical connection. Shame it didn’t go further.

Prince and Dilla. That would be amazing.

I also thought you know Nas would be someone I want with Dilla. Do they have a track together?
