Amerie – “Gotta Work” (Phazz Remix)

It’s not a groundbreaking formula by any means, a producer flipping a somewhat dated female R&B vocal sample, but I’ll be damned if it still isn’t effective when it’s done right. The track in question here is Amerie’s “Gotta Work” and the producer up for the challenge is Phazz, falling somewhere in the grey area between hip-hop and whatever electronic sounds are pushing forward these days. The result is a colorful banger fit to round out the last grips of summer before fall slips back in. Oh, and it’s free, which you can stream or download below.
