Alpha MC – “Still Bangin'”

Our previous features on West Coast rapper-producer Alpha MC were linked to his collaborations with members of his crew, the Swim Team. Last November, footage hit the web of the collective performing a freestyle cypher, which featured stylish bars from Dumbfoundead, VerBS, Sahtyre, Alpha MC, and Open Mike Eagle. The last two then linked up again for a dubbed-out remix to Mike Eagle’s “Mistakes“. But here, the focus is solely on Alpha MC. He’s releasing a new project, the Beat The Skin EP, next month and damn, it’s sounding hot already. The first single, the aptly titled “Still Bangin'”, is driven by loads of bravado, M.O.P. and Dilla vocal samples, and a beat that makes me want to rob people. Or dance. Or both.
