Alecia Chakour and her band, the Osrah, have quietly dropped one of the better EPs of the year thus far with Loomi. Most notably, it features the group tackling the same Baby Huey cut as the Roots and John Legend did on Wake Up! But Chakour & the Osrah sound much more at home covering “Hard Times”, even if the Roots are one of the best bands doing it right now. Beyond that, the EP also features killer single “Like You, Me”, a track filled with organs, hints of distortion, and the soulful songstress’s gorgeous vocals. It reminds me of a lonely walk taken on the morning after you have had just a bit too much to drink the night before. Yet, as your headache persists, you feel the nausea slip away and everything is just gravy.
Stream “Like You, Me” below and download it after the skip. You can cop Loomi here. Also after the jump is a slick animated video about the band.
