Well the Jay argument doesn't really move me because I was always of the opinion that DMX was more popular during his height than Jay. You could make the argument about Wiz and I wouldn't disagree with it. I don't listen to the radio so I'll just have to take your word for it. I feel the myth of Rick Ross' popularity has more to do with him features than what actually happens when he's on records.

Fun Billboard singles chart facts: In 20+ years of rapping, Jay-Z has scored exactly one #1 single. Kanye has two. Wayne has one. Nicki and Drake have zero. If singles sales were the main measure of who runs rap, I could make a fairly solid argument for Wiz Khalifa owning this decade. And none of us feel that way.

As far as album sales go, GFID is currently on track to do roughly the same first week numbers that Nicki did for Roman Reloaded (Cut Jeezy some slack too. Roman Reloaded only outdid TM103's first week by 20k). Also worth note that almost every Rick Ross solo album has debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts with the exception of Teflon Don, which opened at #2. Putting Rick Ross on the level of a couple of Kanye clones and an action movie bit actor ignores how much of an industry power player he is.

MMG turns failed hip hop acts into highly sought after artists. Ross is the only artist with the juice to land features on Wayne, Nas, Drake, MJB, AND Usher's albums. You can hear his grunt every ten to fifteen minutes on urban radio. Rich Forever damn near broke the internet when it dropped.

Are you not entertained!? lol

Yeah, sweet review. I actually like the fact that the music is so varied, there's shitloads of different things going on and I actually quite like the Usher collabo.

The Rich Forever mixtape was a total beast, and I listened to that every day for about 2 weeks, but I think I'll come back to this over a longer period of time. Andre 3000's 'guitar solo' is hilarious.

I only have one quibble. What's all this talk about hip hop dominance and being in the hip hop elite? He's hasn't gone platinum at any point in his career. He has zero number 1 singles. As far as popularity, he's on the same tier as Kid Cudi, Lupe, Ludacris currently, maybe Jeezy if he doesn't bounce back to a platinum artists, and dudes like that.

He's not up there with Em, Jay, Kanye, Drake, Wayne, or Nicki.
