I haven’t listened to it in a minute, but I maintain that Aceyalone‘s 2009 album, Aceyalone & The Lonely Ones, didn’t get the attention it so deserved. It was a well executed combination of funk, soul, and hip-hop with a slick presentation. Even without his props, Ace ain’t done with the sound as his new project, Leanin’ on Slick, follows in its predecessors footsteps. The title track, which dropped today, is on some James Brown, bandleader-type-shit. Don’t be surprised if you keep it on for the next 10 minutes and find yourself in a better mood.
Listen below. Leanin’ on Slick drops May 28 and features Cee-Lo, Daniel Merriweather and more. [via]
