I’ve seen a lot of split opinions of 9th Wonder‘s proper solo debut, The Wonder Years. And now, I’ll add mine into the mix. I dig it. But do I love it? Not entirely, but there are a lot of strong moments that make me glance over some otherwise glaring missteps. Like Mac fucking Miller?!?!?! Anyway, one of the album’s finest moments come on opening track “Make It Big”, which 9th has wisely chosen to take to the visual realm. Why he left Khrysis off the video version is beyond me, though.

misstep putting Mac Miller on? Lots of people got love for Mac these days. He’s appealing to a different demographic of hip-hop listeners with Mac on there. 9th is business man and his beats are soo sound a wide variety of MCs will sound good on em. As far as the video is concerned….Maybe he didn’t like Khyrisis’ face…? or it was just filmed without him for a reason that doesn’t have a reason. I accept it either way. No hate, it all works. It’s a nice listen, even if it’s not perfect, like you said.
