brotherali Download: Brother Ali Us [mp3]

It was just a few days ago that we posted a preview video for Brother Ali’s new album, Us, which is set to drop Sept. 22. And now, we have an mp3 of the first leaked track, also titled “Us”. This joint is another fantastic cut from the ridiculously talented Rhymesayers emcee who seems to get better with every record he releases. By the way, if you haven’t seen Ali in concert yet, do yourself a favor and cop tickets for the Fresh Air tour with Evidence and Toki Wright, who also kills it on stage. As for right now, enjoy the track and, of course, let us know what you’re thinking.

Grey Matter - The Problem EP coverJust got around to posting this six track free EP from Grey Matter, a two man group featuring Illustrate on the mic and TEMPERMENTAL on the boards. I was quite impressed by their chemistry on record, should be interesting to see what the two cook up for their full LP coming soon on Domination Records. As for now, check out this little preview and share your thoughts after the skip…

dj buddy mini mix 41 trek life coverart1 Download: Trek Life x DJ Buddy Free Money [Mini Mix]Last week Trek hit us with a fantastic opinion piece regarding the lifespan of music these days and how disposable it has become. With that said, Trek drops a mini mix with DJ Buddy highlighting some of the many classic joints that he has put out, just in case you had missed them the first time around. If you are at all like me, then you would totally agree with me when I say that Trek is the true definition of a dope emcee. And if you disagree with that statement, give this mix a quick spin and you will be immediately convinced.

moka onlyHere is your first peak at Moka Only’s solo LP, Lowdown Suite 2 – The Box, which actually dropped earlier this month. An exceptional effort, which happened to receive an astonishing 4.5 out of 5 Potholes! I am glad Moka chose to leak this track first because it happens to be on of my favorite tracks from the LP. The sample and filter heavy production provides an excellent landscape for Moka and special guest, Bootie Brown of The Pharcyde to spit some insightful rhymes. Check this track out and let us know what you think about it…

the tones dreamtalkThe Tones released their highly esteemed LP, Dreamtalk way back in December of 2008. A stellar effort from what was to me, a fantastic debut. Since that time, I have continued to keep the album in my rotation, taking in the tons of different sounds and influences that form a very eclectic and enjoyable work of art. I know many of you probably missed out the first time this record dropped, but I am very excited to say that The Tones have rereleased the album to the public, free of charge. That is right, hit the link now to get the complete LP and give it a spin as soon as possible, this will only be available for a limited time!

luckiam1 Download: Luckyiam Sumpthin 2 Say ft. Imani & Pep Love [mp3]Here is a fresh new cut from a member of the Living Legends crew, Luckyiam. Not only does Lucky get a nice lick at the track, but he enlists Imani of Pharcyde and Pep Love of the Hieroglphics to add their own two cents to a beautiful boom-bap production from Kruse. This song serves as the first leak off Lucky’s upcoming mixtape, The Present, which drops August 2nd. According to Lucky, this track was actually quite a long time coming, you can read more about that from himself after the skip. For now, peep the track and let us know how you feel about it…

oddisee Download: Oddisee We On To Something [mp3]If you haven’t been following Oddisee’s every move religiously, then something must be wrong with you. The guy not only creates some of the heaviest beats known to man, but he can pick up a mic and step with the best of them. “We On To Something” is the first leak off the upcoming mixtape, The Off Season, which is brought to us by FWMJ. You can hit that link to check out more details about the tape, but to me it looks pretty nutty. As we wait, check out this banger of a track and stay tuned as we approach the August 4th release…

808s & Hadee cover

I first became aware of emcee/producer Rashid Hadee through his work with Pugs Atomz and recently with DJ K.O. and the Beat Society*Picture This remix he did for “That Knack”. He’s back with a new mixtape entitled Chopped Not Screwed Vol.1: 808’s & Hadee. Known as the go to producer of Chicago when you want that good ole soulful boom bap, Rashid Hadee has decided to pay homage to the home team on the first installment of his Chopped Not Screwed mixtape series. It features a couple of members from his Chapter 13 crew (Augustine & Melatone), Decay of The Molemen and Chicago veterans Pugs Atomz and The Primeridian. Chopped Not Screwed Vol.1: 808’s & Hadee is about the artistic expression of the producer and the rapper. Enjoy!
