Daytona - ComeFlyWithMeWe dropped Daytona’s short, but sweet Daytona 500 EP a few months ago, but today he drops the long-awaited LP, Come Fly With Me. Let me start by saying that The Kid is not only a premier lyricist, but a top-notch all-around emcee. He is definitely giving a lot of older cats a run for their money in today’s rap game. Not only is he doing it big, but he has some huge cosigns, at it shows from the all-star line-up of guest appearances he has on the album like Bun B, Kardinal Offishall, Amanda Diva, Outasight and more. The production is on-point as well, as the homie 6th Sense handles a large amount of the load, while Cook Classics, The Government, Jet Audio, Ill Bomb and more play smaller roles. Give it a spin and share your thoughts…

EMPBOXFLIERFORCD 300x225 Download: Emperess Outside The Box [Mixtape]Emperess just sent over her newest mixtape, Outside the Box, showcasing her distinguished rhyming ability. If you are at all skeptical about this release, whether it’s because it is a female emcee or you have just never heard of her before, take my word for it, this DMV emcee is about to prove you wrong. And to be honest, there are few females that are really impressing me these days outside of people like Tiye Phoenix or Jean Grae. I am not sure she can be added to that esteemed list quite yet, but she is definitely on her way. Check it out and let us know how you feel for yourself…

assorted good vol1 Download: MaGestiK LeGenD Say HeyHere is a fresh cut from MaGestiK LeGenD off the Exchange Bureau Compilation project, Assorted Good vol. 1. The song features a very soft hook from Genevieve and a hypnotizing piano-heavy beat from  Snowman Jack. According to MaGestiK, we should be hearing a lot more from him in the near future. This track is definitely a good sign of what’s to come from the Detroit. Peep the track and leave your thoughts…

Here is the first video off the homie Muneshine’s upcoming LP, Status Symbol. A very nice introduction of what you will hear on the album, solid raps over some smooth production. You may actually know Mune from his beats, but he actually decided to rely heavily on outside production on this one to show that he has the capability to rhyme as well. This video in particular is a nice touch to this laidback track, showing Mune’s international influence. Check it out and share your thoughts… I also included the sampler for Muneshine’s LP below for free download!

rundown copy The Weekly Rundown (June 22 29th)

Welcome to the weekly rundown where we (soulsupreme and Marty) provide you with our top ten headlines for the week that was.

  1. Michael Jackson passes away at 50. The King Of Pop died of cardiac arrest on Thursday. The whole world is in mourning over the loss of MJ. He is the most important artist of this generation and his music continues to touch lives.
  2. Will.I.Am’s manager punches out Perez Hilton in Toronto after the MMVA’s. You can’t continue to trash people on a daily basis and think that that negativity won’t come to you. We don’t condone violence, but don’t write cheques your ass can’t cash.
  3. The Roots Debut Their New Single “How I Got Over” On ‘Jimmy Fallon’. The new single sounds ridiculously dope. We are really digging the upbeat vibe and obvious James Brown influence. We’re hoping for a few more leaks like The Legendary did for Rising Down because October is way too far away. Read the rest of this entry »
