12 Albums That Will Probably Never Be Released

nas-aviatorsOver the past year or so, some previously mythological/never-going-to-drop albums have indeed either been released or started their promotional cycle. One of the most surprising single drops of the year came in January with “Pay the Price“, the comeback release of Deltron 3030. Equally worthy of a “is this really happening?” (though not quite as exciting) is the news that Papoose’s Nacirema Dream is finally dropping tomorrow, March 26.

With these occurrences in mind, we began thinking about other projects that will probably never see the light of day. We already wrote about one them somewhat recently while others fall into the trap of “maybe this album’s time has past” in terms of relevancy. Some of those particular projects are heavily related to super-group formations that fell apart before they really even started.

And just to make it clear: we most certainly would love it if even ONE of these 12 albums dropped. We just don’t think they ever will. Also, sorry, Nas, but you’re all over this list so we just had to lead with you.

the dude makes music still. honestly a lot of the new music is not up to snuff in professionalism compared to other artists putting out tapes. both sonically and lyrically they can be disorganized. but sometimes he manages to put out something good.

i always supported the dude. but he can be immature and introverted to work with anyone else. which is sad because with the right team or mentor or collaborators he could be great

actually i could not get into the catholic illuminati mixtape. i bought it. but i hate when he uses samples that are too recognizable and then filtered lo-fi.

  3. Madvillainy 2 barely belongs on here. I’m 95% sure that it will come out in the next couple years.

  4. dude holy shit no way

  5. Danger Mouse x Jemini – Ghetto Pop Life 2 (Kill Your Heroes) this album was recorded (and apparently finished) after the first GPL, but Danger left Lex Records and hip hop to do his own thing (good for him, he’s the man) and Jemini did nothing. Lex went solo from Warp and theres no chance this will ever come out. Knuckle Sandwich 2 was released tho, cool song

That Kendrick x J.Cole project or the KRIT x Yelawolf project. Rappers can’t step away from their own projects long enough.

  7. To be honest, I don’t want Detox to come out. I feel it has really huge expectations and probably would disappoint everyone even if it was pretty good. It’s the Duke Nukem of music.

    Personally, I could give a rat’s ass about “Madvillainy 2.” I’d much rather have a follow-up to Edan’s “Beauty & The Beat.”

Also: weren’t Nigel Godrich and Q-Tip supposed to drop an album together?

  11. yeah you’re not missing much but the human punchline is still alive n making music

  12. I wanna hear an outkast album not andre 3000 solo

  13. Here I thought it was just bootlegged/unofficial shit that was coming out.

  15. slight correction, we have heard one song with all 3 on it… The Day off Pilot Talk…but yeah, too good to be true.

  16. I saw that (and others) posted on other sites recently, but I couldn’t tell if it was “new” or just someone leaking random shit.

charles hamilton actually put out a lot of music lately. one good is this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DbMQm6TOAIg

a lot of weird shit. but the gems are hidden.

  18. It was either that or Center Edge Territory. I feel like CET is way more ridiculous in terms of actually dropping than Act II.

  19. I don’t know how Jay Elec isn’t mentioned here. People have been waiting on that album for around 3 years now.
